Mercedes-Benz W196 Driven By Juan Manuel Fangio Sold For $29.6Milion

1954 Mercedes-Benz Formula 1 car sold for record price of nearly $30 million

The classic race car 1954 Mercedes-Benz W196 driven by Formula 1 legend, Juan Manuel Fangio, was sold yesterday at auction for £ 19.6 million, or approximately $ 29.6 million. A world champion five times in this car in 1954 won his second title, achieving victory in the German Grand Prix and the Grand Prix of Switzerland.

Robert Brooks, chairman of the Bonhams auction, which organized the auction house, said Mercedes Fangio is the most important car ever sold at auction race. Mercedes-Benz W196 was sold to an anonymous buyer who placed her over the phone.

In the same auction was held in Goodwood, southern England, for £ 359.900 ($ 543 887) sold the Ferrari 330 GT in 1965, the first owner was a former Beatle John Lennon.
