Porsche 911: 50 years


For five decades, the 911 was the heart of the Porsche brand. Few other cars in the world can boast a long tradition and continuity, as Porsche automobiles 911.Few also boasts a long tradition and continuity of the Porsche 911.

Porsche 901 prototype was presented in 1963 as a successor to the 356. The production version - Renamed 911 - followed in 1964, the first models had a 126bhp six-cylinder engine.

Porsche has released version 997 of the 911 in 2004, but it marked a return to more classic style elements, including the abandonment of the flagship model "fried egg" question.

Today, it is considered the ultimate sports car, the benchmark for all others. The 911 is also the central point of reference for all other series Porsche. Since the Cayenne, the Panamera, Porsche is more sporty in its class, and each carries a part of philosophy 911.

More than 820,000 Porsche 911 were built, making it the most successful car in the sports world. For each of its seven generations, engineers Zuffenhausen and Weissach reinvented again and again show the world the innovative power of Porsche.

For Porsche, the 50th anniversary of this iconic sports car is the objective of 2013.The company is also sending a model 911 in 1967 around the world. Throughout the year, this vintage nine to eleven years, will visit five continents where it will be displayed in places like Pebble Beach CA, Shanghai, Goodwood UK, Paris and Australia.
