Most Expensive Bottle of Cognac


A bottle of cognac Croizet 1858 was sold for the record price of 117.280Euro ($ 156,740) at auction in the Hotel de la Paix in the famous Bund in Shanghai, China.

Croizet Lion, the founder of the house, gave the bottle to his daughter as a wedding dowry in 1892. That's why it was called Cognac CuvĂ©e Leonie. A woman from Hong Kong, called Maggie Vong, bought the bottle and saved for a special occasion. The previous record was held by a bottle of 1788 Vieux Cognac sold in France in 2009 for € 25,000.

Even if another bottle of cognac was sold for € 1,496,500 ($ 2,000,000 in 2008), it was not considered a world record because the drink into a very expensive bottle of wine inlaid with gold and diamonds. For now, the Croizet holds the world record for the most expensive cognac sold in its original packaging. Another 16 bottles of this spirit have been sold well in this auction dedicated exclusively to single cognac, which was held in China so far.
